Therapeutic Massage
Level 2
Therapeutic
Massage Level 2 continues to build on the sequence learned in Therapeutic 1 with
expanded treatment options for neck, shoulders, lower back, hips, and the anterior neck compartment.
The advanced work
in Therapeutic Massage Level 2 includes: advanced stretch routines, functional assessments and evaluations, range of motion
techniques, Deep Tissue, Myofacial Release, Neuromuscular Therapy (trigger point therapy),
and new energy balancing techniques.
A key element of
this course is the development of palpation skills, the ability to
locate and assess individual muscles, as the basis for doing specific
work on muscles, tendons and ligaments.
Advanced techniques that are integrated into the sequence include:
-
Intro to Deep Tissue Techniques
-
Advanced Stretching Routines
-
Neuromuscular Therapy
-
Myofacial Release
-
Joint Mobilization
-
Assessments, Evaluations and
Charting
-
Range of Motion Techniques
-
Specific Palpation Skills and
Kinesiology
-
Polarity Therapy Energy Balancing
Specific
Sequences include:
Upper Back:
A basic deep tissue and neuromuscular sequence is learned to release
pain and restrictions in the upper shoulders, between the shoulder
blades and the back of the neck.
Lower Back and
Hips:
The lower back section of this course explores the most important
muscles involved in lower back pain and their referral patterns. You will then learn basic sequences employing a combination of
therapeutic massage, deep tissue, myofascial and neuromuscular therapy
to work
with depth and precision into the lower back and hips to alleviate the causes of
pain and discomfort.
Neck:
The neck section includes evaluation of the four ranges of motion to
help identify restrictions and postural distortions.
Techniques taken from deep tissue, neuromuscular therapy,
myofascial release, are employed to
release restrictions to free movement and alleviate pain.
A comprehensive manual
covering all the course material complete with photographs of
techniques is included.
