Shiatsu 100
with Shinzo Fujimaki

ShiatsuShiatsu, literally translated as "finger pressure" is a Japanese form of bodywork designed to heal and promote health by enhancing the energetic and physical orientation toward working with the body.   Shinzo brings with him a lifetime of experience with both Shiatsu and Aikido.   Aikido, is an elegant non-combative martial art that embodies a philosophy that embraces, loves and protects the attacker.  When these principles are applied to Shiatsu, pain, stress, dis-ease are not treated as the enemy; instead they are embraced - and as the client is treated as a "whole" they are released and the brought back into the natural state of health and harmony.

Shiatsu's development and practice is based on the twelve meridians of oriental medicine.  Shiatsu

Students will learn and practice how release, stretch, and tonify each point based on Yin and Yang and oriental 5 element theory.  In addition to Japanese martial arts, Shinzo incorporates the principles of Chi Kung (oriental breathing meditation) into his shiatsu teaching. You will learn how to "collect" Chi energy, "extend" this healing energy to the client and receive the "return flow"  to harmonize and balance body, mind and spirit in both the client and yourself.  Up to an hour of Oriental theory is taught at the beginning of each class.

Some of the highlights of Shiatsu 100 are:

Stretching and releasing energy blocks in the twelve meridians.

Using the Yin and Yang theory to balance and tonify each meridian and point.

Using 5 element theory and other oriental diagnostic techniques.

Breathing, Chi flow, intention and physical posture.

Giving and receiving an advanced whole-body shiatsu.

Complete manuals outlining all the principles and techniques taught during these courses with be provided for each student.

Because of his practice of Aikido and Japanese martial arts, Shinzo encourages his students to respect the classroom as a "dojo" (place to study the way) and to respect one another. Students will have ample time to practice the techniques taught under the supervision of the instructor and will be able to perform a complete body Shiatsu by the end of the course.

A complete course manual outlining all of the techniques taught will be supplied to each student.
