About the Role: What You’ll Be Doing as an Acute Dialysis RN

As a Hema-Tec Acute Dialysis RN , you will be responsible for independently performing critical tasks – assessing, initiating, monitoring, and terminating dialysis treatments in an acute hospital setting. Every patient you treat is unique, and you’ll be there to support them through one of the most challenging treatments with precision, skill, and compassion. You’ll work closely with physicians, hospital staff, and other Hema-Tec team members to provide the highest standard of care and ensure every patient is met with empathy and understanding.

Here’s a closer look at your day-to-day responsibilities:

  • Lifesaving Patient Care: You’ll assess and tailor treatments to each patient’s needs, ensuring that their safety, comfort, and wellbeing are always prioritized. Working with the broader care team, you’ll make real-time adjustments and communicate proactively to deliver continuity and excellence in care.
  • Critical Skills in Action: You’ll be trusted to respond to each patient’s unique responses, adjusting treatment as necessary. From administering intradialytic transfusions to consulting physicians on patient progress, your ability to stay calm and focused will be key.
  • Infection Control and Safety: Adhering to stringent health and safety guidelines is essential to ensure a clean, safe environment for patients, colleagues, and yourself. You’ll operate and troubleshoot dialysis machines, monitor quality standards, and implement emergency procedures when needed.
  • On-Call Support: We count on your expertise when it matters most. This role includes on-call evening and weekend shifts as scheduled, giving you the opportunity to make a critical difference whenever your skills are needed.

What We’re Looking For in Our Next Acute Dialysis RN:
We’re seeking passionate, dedicated RNs who are ready to make a difference in the world of dialysis. Here’s what it takes to succeed:

  • Experience and Licensure: You’re a licensed RN with an unblemished record, at least one year of RN experience , and a minimum of 6 months of nephrology or dialysis experience . You’re also BLS/CPR certified by the American Heart Association.
  • Compassion and Resilience: Dialysis can be challenging for patients and their families, so a compassionate heart and patient-first attitude are essential.
  • Critical Thinking and Independence: You can work independently with confidence, make quick decisions, and solve problems with a cool head.
  • Desire to Grow: We encourage professional development, so a desire to expand your skills and potentially pursue certifications in nephrology or dialysis is a huge plus.
  • Stamina and Strength: This role requires prolonged standing, bending, and occasional heavy lifting, as well as travel between hospitals in Michigan. Being physically prepared is essential for your safety and success in this role.
