Claremont Unified School District is accepting applications for an Adult School ESL Teacher position. Under the direction of the Administrator of the Adult School Program, the teacher will plan and provide a learning program that is designed to enable students to make academic, vocational and/or personal growth.
Job Description / Essential Elements: Requirements: California Designated Subjects Adult Education Teaching Credential required authorizing service in an English as a Second Language.
CBEST transcript if newly hired in the state of California or if no public school employment within the last 39 calendar months in a California public school.
Job Description: Teaching English as a second language to Adults who first or main language is not English, in a classroom setting. Teachers of ESL use a range of course books and materials and also variety of audio visual aids. There is a strong emphasis on dialogue and role playing, but more formal exercises, language games and literature are also used.
Hours: Part-time hourly position Monday - Thursday: 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. (12 hours/week)
Salary: Step I-$43.11/hour (per CUSD district policy)
Step II-$46.00/hour after one year employment with Claremont Adult School
