Job Description
Job Summary: An assembler performs simple production assembly with repetitive and non-repetitive production operations on structural and mechanical assemblies and subassemblies based on engineering installation plans. This role supports continuous improvement of products and processes by participating in the design, fabrication and testing of new concepts and technology.
Essential Functions (What)
1. Determine Detail/Hardware locations per blueprints and mylars
2. Set-up and operate Drill Press, Pneumatic drills, “C” squeezes, Hand Squeezes, Rivet Pullers.
3. Set up countersinks per fastener requirements and shop router
4. Monitor and work with very tight tolerances
5. Drill holes in structure and subassemblies, and attaches brackets, hinges, or clips to secure installation or to fasten subassemblies per blueprint and customer specifications.
6. Install units, parts, equipment, and components in structural assembly, according to blueprints and specifications, using hand tools and power tools.
7. Bolt, screw, or rivet accessories to fasten, support, or hang components and subassemblies.
8. Locate and mark reference points and holes for installation of parts and components, using jigs, templates, and measuring instruments.
9. Inspects and tests installed units, parts, and equipment for fit, performance, and compliance with standards, using measuring instruments and test equipment.
10. Position and align subassemblies in jigs or fixtures, using measuring instruments, following blueprint lines and index points.
11. Complete all required training and any additional training required by supervisor.
12. Complete quality documentation
13. Perform preventative maintenance on assembly presses and tooling
14. Verify part and hardware count to shop router
15. Other duties as assigned

· Ability to read, understand and interpret engineering drawings and specifications (e.g., blueprint reading, specification, change, design).
· Working knowledge of aircraft manufacturing, instructions and blueprints
· Working knowledge of customer specifications and requirements
· Ability to use calipers, micrometers, etc.
· Working knowledge of MTI’s traveler (router, bill of materials, etc.)
· Mastery of basic math (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and fractions)
· Strong teamwork and communication skills to get along with co-workers and be a team player
· Understand and obey safety requirements
· Commitment to keep work area clean and free of debris
