The Opportunity:

As we expand into a tech-driven future, we are seeking a visionary Chief Technology Officer (CTO) to architect and execute the next phase of our technology evolution helping us go from a startup tech environment to enterprise tech environment with multiple brands, businesses, and tech products.

This is a rare opportunity to shape a growing edtech and digital services company from the inside out—integrating our event-based, education, and product platforms into scalable, innovative, and mission-aligned technology solutions. The Role:

As a key member of the executive team, the CTO will lead our technology vision, strategy, and execution. This role is responsible for driving tech product innovation, overseeing IT infrastructure, advancing data and analytics capabilities, ensuring cybersecurity, and building an agile, scalable tech foundation across Life Surge, SurgeU, and future brands.

Responsibilities:

Technology Strategy & Vision
  • Develop and execute a forward-looking technology roadmap that supports the company’s vision for scalable growth, digital engagement, and operational excellence.
  • Lead the transformation of SurgeU from an event and education company to a technology-forward edtech and tech services organization.
  • Identify and implement emerging technologies that can amplify our reach, enhance customer experience, and unlock new revenue streams.
Product Innovation & Platform Development
  • Oversee the architecture and development of our proprietary SaaS tech product suite, such as but not limited to:
    • Trade Surge (trading and investing platform)
    • Deal Surge (real estate investment platform)
    • Biz Surge (business platform)
    • Influence Surge (personal brand & influencer platform)
    • SurgeU Learning Portal & Mobile App
  • Collaborate with Product and Marketing to ensure exceptional user experience, engagement, and long-term customer value.
  • Work with the Strategy and Product team on analyzing buy, build or partner tech opportunities.
Data, Analytics & Infrastructure
  • Redesign and modernize our data architecture—making analytics, dashboards, and reporting a strategic strength of the organization.
  • Create a unified data ecosystem across all customer touchpoints, platforms, and departments to support better decision-making and personalization.
  • Create and implement the right machine and AI tech into our operating systems and product technologies.
IT Operations & Cybersecurity
  • Oversee all internal IT systems, cloud infrastructure, and enterprise software—ensuring performance, scalability, and security.
  • Lead cybersecurity and compliance initiatives, including disaster recovery and data privacy.
  • Ensure all systems and operations comply with legal, regulatory, and ethical standards in collaboration with Legal and Compliance.
Leadership & Culture
  • Build, mentor, and scale a high-performing, mission-aligned technology team.
  • Foster a culture of innovation, velocity, accountability, and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Collaborate with and serve the needs of a highly performing Executive Leadership Team reporting to the COO.
Qualifications:

 
  • Proven experience as a CTO, Tech VP, or equivalent executive tech leadership role in a growth-stage or mid-market company (edtech, SaaS, or digital platforms preferred).
  • Deep expertise in software development, enterprise IT, cloud infrastructure, and cybersecurity.
  • Strong experience integrating customer-facing platforms, data analytics, and digital ecosystems.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate business strategy into scalable technology execution.
  • Experience with event platforms, learning management systems (LMS), and CRM integrations is a plus.
  • Strategic thinker with hands-on technical acumen and team-building leadership.
