Job Description Position Summary The Cleaner provides cleaning duties at Alumnae House, the Inn at Vassar College.
The scheduled work hours are Monday and Tuesday, 9:00am-3:30pm. This is a part-time, 12 hour per week position which may be required to work until 5:00pm when necessary and during peak periods. Additional hours during the week may be available at peak times.
Hourly rate- $16.70
Responsibilities - Clean and prepare all guest rooms and their related bathrooms for overnight guests.
- Make beds, dust, vacuum, mop and re-stock supplies as required.
- Inspect rooms to ensure all aspects of the rooms function properly. Report issues as needed.
- Maintain cleanliness of all public spaces on the guest room floor, including hallways, sitting areas, and guest kitchenette.
- Deep clean guest rooms and public spaces periodically.
- Clean public restrooms and spaces throughout Alumnae House as needed.
- Launder and iron sheets, blankets, bedspreads, robes, and towels. Stock clean linen.
- Keep the laundry room, storage areas, and cleaning equipment clean, organized, and in good working order.
- Take weekly inventories of amenities, linens, and cleaning supplies.
- Operate dumpster to dispose of garbage
- Turn in and log all guest property left in guest rooms or public spaces.
- Perform additional responsibilities as delegated to support the operations of the Inn. Required knowledge, skills and abilities
- One year experience in the maintenance and care of facilities in a similar environment.
- Ability to move, position, and place objects up to and including 50 pounds.
- Ability to use a ladder or step stool to perform cleaning tasks.
- Must be able to interact with guests courteously.
- Ability to communicate effectively in English, including understanding, speaking, reading, and writing.
- Ability to work productively and efficiently without supervision.
- Ensure guest rooms are cleaned by check-in hour.
- Willingness to work overtime as available. Overtime is assigned according to seniority guidelines.
- Work on holidays when required. Preferred knowledge, skills and abilities
- Ability to prioritize work assignments.
- Knowledge of proper use and storage of cleaning chemicals.
