Construction Materials Technician

New Orleans, LA - Flexicrew Technical Services (FTS) is seeking a Senior Construction Materials Technician

Essential Duties:

Inspects materials and observes construction activities related to streets, bridges, buildings, levees, and other structures. This role ensures that procedures and materials comply with plans and specifications. The Senior CMT Technician works under the direction of the CMT Operations Supervisor and is expected to perform duties with a high degree of professionalism and expertise.

Requirements/Skills:

Perform field inspections and laboratory tests with proficiency in multiple areas of technology, such as soils, concrete, piling, steel, coatings, non-destructive testing, etc.

• Complete complex reports and assignments with minimal supervision and assistance.
• Measure distances to verify the accuracy of dimensions in structural installations and layouts.
• Verify levels, alignment, and elevation of installations.
• Observe ongoing work to ensure adherence to project specifications and procedures.
• Prepare samples of unapproved materials for laboratory testing.
• Examine the workmanship of finished installations for conformity with plans and specifications.
• Discuss and address deviations from specified construction procedures to ensure compliance with construction regulations.
• Record quantities of materials received or used during specified periods.
• Maintain a daily log of construction and inspection activities.
• Prepare sketches of construction activities for inclusion in daily reports.
• Use appropriate personal protective equipment, including a hard hat, safety vest, safety shoes, and face shield/covering as necessary.
• Maintain a valid driver’s license and operate a motor vehicle for sample collection, field tests, and inspections.
• Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with supervisors and staff members.
