Job Description Cohere is looking for a Data Architect who will actively participate in sprint planning and review sessions with the product owner and coordinate with architecture, information assurance, requirements, testing, and configuration management personnel. The successful candidate must be able to communicate clearly and succinctly both in writing and orally, and present products and ideas professionally. The candidate will work in dynamic, fast-paced environments requiring team interaction and coordination. Experience interfacing with client managers and system users is essential. The Data Architect should be competent in all areas of database infrastructure, including database, integration services, and reporting services. The ability to speak confidently in front of audiences and present briefs to high-ranking government personnel, including whiteboard sessions and presentations, is required. More About the Role: This position involves designing, developing, and supporting new database models or providing complex enhancements to existing databases for mission-critical systems in development and production environments. This position requires an active TS/SCI Poly security clearance. To succeed, you should have a passion for data and innovative theories, along with familiarity in the following areas: Create data dictionaries and business glossaries to document data lineages, definitions, and metadata for all critical data domains. Apply knowledge of reference models to data architecture design, maintaining alignment with standards and best practices for ontology representation. Develop data governance frameworks aligned with user needs, standards, and practices. Implement data architecture initiatives on data quality, governance, standards, and policies across core business functions. Define the mission, goals, success factors, principles, and policies for data strategy and architecture. Build frameworks that encourage integration of policies, procedures, training, and resources. Maintain database integrity and security, including data encryption. Conduct studies and investigations for new information systems to meet current and future needs. Prepare technical reports, memoranda, and manuals related to operational systems. Establish procedures for detecting and correcting data-quality issues and policies for data privacy. Design and implement effective database solutions and models for data storage and retrieval. Evaluate client operations, applications, and programming to identify database needs. Ensure database implementations comply with regulations. Install and organize information systems for functionality. Create database design and architecture documentation. Provide data analysis and standardization. Oversee data migration from legacy systems. Perform testing, troubleshooting, and feature integration. Recommend improvements for database systems. Educate staff through training and support. Develop presentations and reports. Support operational database administration, including high availability, backup, recovery, performance monitoring, and applying patches.
