MHS is seeking a full-time, 10-month* Dentist (Pediatric or General) to join the Dental team. This is a unique opportunity to make a meaningful impact by providing high-quality dental care to students from disadvantaged backgrounds. Each patient presents a chance to improve lives and support the overall well-being of our students. MHS renders dental care out of three school-based dental clinics to over 2,100 students from Pre-K through 12th grade. Each dental clinic typically operates with one dentist, 2 Public Health Dental Hygiene Practitioners, and 1 dental assistant or an expanded-functions dental assistant. All clinics are equipped with state-of-the-art technology, including Dentrix Enterprise dental software, digital X-ray sensors, and intraoral cameras. Select clinics also feature advanced tools such as dental lasers and nitrous oxide/oxygen systems.The students comprehensive dental care includes conducting caries risk assessments; providing routine dental examinations; delivering preventive and restorative treatments; rendering appropriate specialty referrals; ensuring appropriate behavior management in a student-focused environment; and providing professional communications with our students parents and guardians. The dentist must have experience providing comprehensive care to a pediatric dental population. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, examinations, restorations, prosthodontics (including crowns, bridges, implants, and partials), limited root canal therapy, simple extractions, timely and appropriate specialty referrals, and emergency care. This position is based in Hershey, PA and offers a competitive salary, commensurate with experience. The compensation package includes comprehensive medical, vision, and dental insurance; a savings plan with employer contributions; paid time off; health & wellness benefits; and complimentary lunches.*A 10-Month work schedule typically includes summer and school breaks off. Regular work schedule: Monday Friday from 8:00 am - 4:00 pm. In addition, the dentist will be on call for one week, recurring every 3-5 weeks from Monday through Sunday. On-call services at $70 for evenings (after 4p M-F) and $125 per day for on-call weekend dates (Sat & Sun).

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in pediatric or general dentistry required.
  • D.D.S or D.M.D. degree required.
  • Current dental licensure in good standing.
  • Anesthesia license (if applicable for nitrous oxide/oxygen administration).
  • Specialized dental certifications (e.g., implant, laser, etc.).
  • CPR/AED Healthcare Provider training.
  • Up-to-date continuing education/training requirements.
  • Child Abuse Recognition and Reporting Act 31 - 2 contact hours every 2 years.
  • Radiology/DEP two contact hours every 4 years.
  • Completion of two contact hours in Pain Management, Identification of Addiction or the Practice of Prescribing or Dispensing Opioids.
  • Candidates should demonstrate a high degree of integrity, as all MHS staff are role models for MHS students.
  • Candidates should be willing to actively engage with students beyond the scope of their job responsibilities.
