Entry Level Electrical Engineer – UL Solutions Locations: Northbrook, IL; Research Triangle Park, NC; Melville, NY; Fremont, CA. As an Entry Level Electrical Engineer, you will assist UL in providing safety, security, and performance solutions across the energy, power distribution, and automation value chains. Responsibilities Energy Systems eMobility Power and Controls Determine project scope, develop a preliminary plan of investigation, and establish project specifications such as cost, time, and sample requirements by analyzing client input, available supplemental data, and product construction. Execute travel to conduct or witness tests at client sites as needed. Initiate communication with clients to promote and explain the benefits of new and existing services. Follow up on contacts from clients. Communicate with clients to discuss technical issues, explain UL procedures and requirements, convey project cost, and negotiate completion dates and sample requirements. Address client concerns and resolve client issues. Provide technical assistance to clients in reference to product inspection and follow‑up services. Establish appropriate test programs by reviewing files and manufacturer’s information, examining samples, and applying UL requirements. Remain familiar with applicable standards, company manuals, and appropriate technical literature. Examine samples for compliance with UL requirements and notify clients of any areas where the product is not in compliance or of any changes in project scope or specifications. Coordinate laboratory activities by preparing data sheets and instructions to technicians, scheduling and reviewing work of laboratory technicians and engineering assistants, and establishing completion dates. Coordinate administrative aspects of project management. Serve as Project Handler of record and/or Reviewer of record as assigned. Communicate project status and results to clients through frequent contact and by preparing reports. Prepare Follow‑Up Service Procedures and information pages. Integrate continuous improvement concepts and techniques into all aspects of the job. Resolve engineering issues associated with Variation Notices by analyzing and reporting on the acceptability of the variations. Assist in the development of UL requirements. Assist in developing special test methods and test equipment. Analyze test programs for adequacy and sequence. Coordinate and/or perform File Reviews as directed. Represent UL at industry‑related functions such as seminars and trade shows. Read and follow the Underwriters Laboratories Code of Conduct and follow all physical and digital security practices. Perform other duties as directed. Qualifications Recent graduate or pending graduation in December 2025 with a degree in Electrical Engineering or related major. Hold a Bachelor’s degree prior to the intended full‑time start date. Demonstrated ability to work in a results‑oriented, challenging environment. Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills. Prior customer service experience preferred. Must be legally permitted to work in the United States. What We Offer Annual salary of $77,000, with annual bonus compensation and a target payout of 5% of the base salary. Potential sign‑on bonus to assist with housing, travel, and other relocation expenses, subject to terms and conditions. Retirement savings through 401(k) commensurate with the standard rewards offered at each individual location or country. Paid time off, including 15 days of vacation, 12 days of floating holidays, and 72 hours of sick time.
