Job Description
Position Overview: We are currently seeking a full-time Survey Field Technician in our Mason City office. Our survey department is vital to assisting engineers on a wide array of civil, development, municipal and environmental projects. This position is predominantly a field position with opportunities for in-office work and development to a qualified candidate. This position is a support position to our existing PLS and Crew Chief with opportunities for advancement.

Main Duties and Responsibilities: • Follow instructions on specific assignments, objectives and complex workflows
• Perform a variety of in-office and field tasks associated with land surveying projects as directed by PLS or OM
• Performs topographic, boundary, and construction surveys as directed by PLS or OM
• Review, download, and process field data
• Prepare field notes and maintain records
• Perform other like duties as assigned by PLS or OM
• Communicate with Contractors and the Iowa One Call System
• Manhole and Utility inspections
Requirements: • Associate degree preferred but not required.
• Knowledge of survey calculations, techniques, and procedures
• Valid driver's license
• At least 1 year experience in land surveying is preferred
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Self-motivated and able to follow directions
Professional Development: • Training to be provided by veteran field staff for best surveying practices, expectations, and equipment usage
• Tutelage to be provided from Iowa PLS to aid in the development of candidate and Iowa licensure process if desired
• Civil3D training to be provided to candidate by in-house staff
