Job Summary

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated LGBTQ+ Inclusive Educator to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for creating a positive, affirming, and engaging learning environment that fosters student growth and development, with a particular focus on supporting LGBTQ+ students and allies. This role involves planning, implementing, and assessing educational programs tailored to meet the diverse needs of all students, while ensuring LGBTQ+ inclusivity in curriculum and classroom practices. The Educator will collaborate with colleagues, parents, and the community to support student success and promote lifelong learning.

Duties

* Develop and implement lesson plans that align with curriculum standards and cater to various learning styles, incorporating LGBTQ+ perspectives and content where relevant.

* Assess student progress through regular evaluations and provide constructive feedback to enhance learning outcomes, with sensitivity to the unique challenges faced by LGBTQ+ students.

* Create a supportive classroom atmosphere that encourages student participation, curiosity, and respect, ensuring a safe and inclusive space for LGBTQ+ students to express themselves.

* Collaborate with fellow educators to share best practices and contribute to a cohesive educational experience, including strategies for LGBTQ+ inclusion and allyship.

* Communicate effectively with parents and guardians regarding student performance, behavior, and academic needs, while being mindful of privacy and confidentiality concerns related to LGBTQ+ students.

* Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with educational trends and methodologies, including training on LGBTQ+ issues, inclusive teaching practices, and creating safe spaces.

* Maintain accurate records of student attendance, grades, and other required documentation.

Skills

* Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively engage with students, parents, and colleagues, including the ability to communicate respectfully and sensitively about LGBTQ+ issues.

* Excellent organizational skills to manage lesson planning, classroom activities, and administrative tasks efficiently.

* Ability to adapt teaching methods to accommodate different learning styles and abilities within the classroom, including strategies for supporting LGBTQ+ students with diverse learning needs.

* Proficiency in using technology as an educational tool to enhance learning experiences.

* Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for teaching and mentoring students, with a demonstrated commitment to LGBTQ+ inclusion and social justice.

* Strong problem-solving skills to address challenges that may arise in the classroom setting, including addressing instances of bias, discrimination, or harassment against LGBTQ+ students.
