Job Description
Dixon Justice Center is seeking a highly organized, detail-oriented, and personable Legal Assistant / Paralegal to join our team. This is an excellent opportunity to work in a dynamic environment where you’ll assist with all aspects of case management, client communication, billing, and day-to-day operations of a busy law office.
We’re looking for someone who is dependable, professional, and motivated — a person who takes pride in their work, communicates clearly, and can keep our office running smoothly while delivering exceptional support to our attorneys and clients.
Key Responsibilities
Draft motions, manage case files, and prepare for DMV hearings.
Schedule and coordinate court appearances, Zoom meetings, remote interviews, and other legal proceedings.
Communicate professionally with courts, law enforcement, DMV personnel, investigators, law clerks, and clients.
Assist with client intake, send out retainer agreements, and follow up on leads.
Handle billing, accounts receivable, invoicing, and payment plans.
Manage the office calendar, including scheduling interviews and appearances.
Oversee day-to-day operations of the law office and support remote attorneys and law clerks.
Maintain organized records and ensure compliance with office policies and procedures.
Perform other assignments as needed to support the legal team.
Qualifications
Knowledge of Penal Code and Vehicle Code preferred.
Experience with DMV hearings and calendaring/scheduling court appearances.
Strong skills in billing, bookkeeping, and accounts receivable.
Excellent communication and client service skills; comfortable speaking with clients and following up on billing/payment plans.
Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, Adobe, and MyCase.
Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities.
Self-motivated, dependable, and able to maintain a professional demeanor under pressure.
Compensation & Benefits
Salary: $42,000 annually ($20.38/hour)
Hours: 40 hours/week (Monday–Friday, 8 AM–5 PM)
Occasional weekends or after-hours may be required for lead follow-up; comp time during the day will be provided.
Annual Christmas Bonus: 3% of gross revenue.
