Job Description

About the role

The Amcor Legal Team is seeking a U.S.-based attorney to support its North American Rigid Packaging business. The selected candidate will play a key role in providing support for Sales, Procurement, Finance, Operations, and other teams in their ongoing matters related to contracts, property, and other commercial transactions.

Key Job Accountabilities
  • Provide legal support and partnership across Amcor divisions with legal needs in North America.
  • Legal review and preparation of customer supply agreements, procurement agreements, real estate leases and other real estate contracts, equipment leases, and many other types of contracts.
  • Handle pre-litigation dispute resolution, including working directly with members of the Legal Litigation Team.
  • Collaborate with other members of the Legal Team to implement a global framework for the delivery of legal services to support Amcor's global business.
  • Work closely with members of the Legal Team to develop a best-in-class team which partners with the business in a timely and effective way to drive profitability, business growth, and success.
  • Engage in continuous learning of the business through formal and self-directed activities.
  • Identify, develop, and implement forms and processes to improve the efficiency of handling internal legal matters.
  • Identify and analyze risk and communicate the same along with mitigation recommendations to the appropriate levels of the business.
  • Assist in the management of outside counsel to ensure overall quality and value of legal services.
Qualifications/Requirements
  • The successful candidate must have a law degree with qualification to practice law in any U.S. state.
  • Position to be located in the Amcor offices in Evansville, Indiana.
  • 5-8 years of experience, with experience in a corporate in-house position preferred, though not required.
  • Experience reviewing and preparing numerous types of contracts.
  • Ability to develop strategic partnerships with leaders at all levels of the organization.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills; a desire to learn; and a commitment to the highest ethical standards.
  • Demonstrated ability to resolve complex legal issues in compliant, but also creative, business-friendly, and cost-effective ways with an appropriate sense of urgency.
