Location: Denver, Colorado

Position Overview

The Materials coordinator is responsible for overseeing inventory management, ensuring accurate records of raw materials, hardware, and overhead goods. They will track inventory levels, implement efficient storage systems, and prevent overstocking or stockouts through regular audits and coordination with production teams. This role also includes sourcing, ordering, and managing materials, negotiating with suppliers for competitive pricing, and ensuring timely delivery of materials for custom cabinetry projects.

Additionally, the Materials Coordinator will maintain an organized material library (digital and physical), staying up to date with the latest materials and design trends. They will oversee receiving operations and allocate materials to production teams.

Core Functions and Responsibilities

  • Master Inventory Management
    • Maintain accurate records of all raw materials, components, and finished goods in the inventory system.
    • Track inventory levels to ensure availability of materials for ongoing and upcoming projects.
    • Implement efficient storage systems for materials to minimize waste and optimize space in the warehouse.
    • Monitor inventory turnover rates and adjust ordering processes to prevent overstocking or stockouts.
    • Perform regular inventory audits and coordinate with production teams to ensure accurate inventory reporting.

  • Purchasing
    • Source, order, and track materials required for custom cabinetry projects, including wood, sheet goods, edgebanding, hardware, and specialty items.
    • Develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and vendors to ensure timely delivery and competitive pricing.
    • Collaborate with the Studio, Production, and Install teams to forecast material needs based on project timelines and design specifications.
    • Review and approve vendor invoices, ensuring accurate pricing and order fulfillment.
    • Negotiate terms with suppliers to secure the best value for materials while maintaining high quality standards.

  • Receiving
    • Oversee all incoming shipments of materials, ensuring timely and accurate delivery to and from the shop.
    • Inspect materials upon receipt for quality, quantity, and damage, and resolve any discrepancies with suppliers or freight companies.
    • Coordinate with project managers and production teams to ensure materials are properly allocated and delivered to the appropriate workstations.
  • Materials Library
    • Develop and maintain an organized material library (physical and digital) containing samples of woods, finishes, hardware, and other materials used in custom cabinetry projects.
    • Ensure that all libraries are up to date with the latest materials, finishes, and design trends, providing easy access for designers and clients.
    • Work closely with the Project Architect team to source new and innovative materials, keeping the library aligned with the high-end aesthetic and quality standards of the company.
    • Regularly review and refresh material samples to ensure they remain in excellent condition and reflective of current offerings.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in materials management, preferably in a woodworking, custom cabinetry, or high-end residential construction environment.
  • Proven experience in managing inventory systems, purchasing, and procurement processes.
  • Strong knowledge of materials commonly used in custom cabinetry and residential construction, including wood types, finishes, hardware, and veneers.
  • Exceptional organizational and multitasking abilities with attention to detail.
  • Proficient with inventory management software, spreadsheets, and other relevant tools.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate with various departments, including design, production, and project management.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage time effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; relevant certifications or training in materials management, supply chain, or procurement are a plus.
  • Experience working in high-end, custom cabinetry or luxury home design.
  • Familiarity with industry-specific software tools for inventory and material tracking.
  • Knowledge of quality control processes and standards for luxury cabinetry materials.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift and move materials (up to 50 lbs).
  • Comfort working in a warehouse/shop environment, with exposure to various materials and tools.

Work Environment

  • Primary work location is the Studio during normal business hours, with limited work-from-home flexibility.
