Join our Pediatric Cardiology and Cardiothoracic Surgery team at UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh as an Advanced Practice Provider (APP).
University of Pittsburgh Physicians is hiring a Full-Time Physician Assistant or Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner (ACNP) to help support our Pediatric Heart and Vascular Institute. This position will specialize in Pediatric Cardiology and Cardiothoracic Surgery
Inpatient.
Hours: Primarily Monday through Friday, rotating weekends. 3 12-hour shifts. 7:00am to 7:00pm.
Location: UPMC Children's Hospital - 4401 Penn Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA 15224
Position Specifics: 90% inpatient, 10% CT Surgery outpatient pre/post op clinic.
Department Details: We have a large group of APPs, a mix of PAs and NPs, 10 total (some PT). We cover the Inpatient Cardiology/CT surgery service. We have a core group of inpatient hospital cardiologists we work with as well as the CT surgeons. We are the primary care team for the service and manage a variety of pediatric cardiology and pre/post-operative cardiothoracic surgery diagnosis.

7A is a 21bed acuity adaptive unit housing the acute care teams as well as CICU patients.
The UPMC Pediatric Advanced Practice Provider (APP) Fellowship Program is dedicated to advancing UPMC as the premier educational setting for producing excellence in patient care delivery through an innovative and world-class clinical curriculum specifically tailored to prepare the physician assistant and nurse practitioner to practice in an evolving and increasingly complex health care market.
The UPMC Pediatric APP Fellowship Program cultivates a mastery of pediatric fundamentals including acute care, ambulatory care, procedure performance, and principles of pediatric subspecialty medicine. The Pediatric APP Fellows are employed, paid learners with the goal to provide the manual skill, fundamental knowledge, and critical thinking skills needed to make sound clinical judgments on a daily basis. Pediatric APP Fellows are being trained to provide autonomous comprehensive pediatric care, within the scope of their license and in collaboration with their supervising physician.
The first one year of employment will consist of the UPMC Pediatric DEPARTMENT APP Fellowship Program . Candidates with greater than or equal to 3 (three) years’ experience within Pediatric DEPARTMENT will have the option of foregoing the fellowship program but are encouraged to enroll for the most comprehensive onboarding experience possible.

Staff / Senior Level Advanced Practice Provider:
The Staff or Senior Advanced Practice Provider (APP) is a Physician Assistant or Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner and a member of the care delivery team. The APP is responsible to set the standards for the level and quality of care. The APP has responsibility, authority, and accountability for the provision of care through supervision by and collaboration with a physician. The APP manages and provides patient care activities for a group of patients and their families through the application of independent judgment, communication, and collaboration with all team members. The role of the APP encompasses the beginnings of leadership, partnership, collaboration, and supervision. The APP establishes and maintains collaborative relationships with physicians, other health care providers, patients, and their families, to achieve desired patient outcomes throughout the continuum of care. The APP begins to demonstrate a commitment to the community and to their healthcare profession.
