Job Summary: Cortina's Pizza Shop, a beloved Fort Lauderdale pizzeria, is seeking a talented and passionate Pizza Chef to join our team. We’re looking for someone with a flair for crafting high-quality pizzas, from preparing fresh dough and sauces to creating mouthwatering toppings. As a key member of our kitchen, you’ll help deliver the authentic, delicious pizzas that make Cortina's a local favorite in Fort Lauderdale’s vibrant dining scene.

Key Responsibilities:

• Pizza Preparation: Handcraft pizza dough, sauces, and toppings from scratch, ensuring consistency and adherence to Cortina’s recipes and quality standards.
• Cooking & Assembly: Operate pizza ovens (wood-fired, gas, or electric) to bake pizzas to perfection, maintaining proper cooking times and appealing presentation.
• Menu Development: Collaborate with the head chef or management to design seasonal specials, innovative pizza recipes, or customized offerings to enhance our menu.
• Inventory Management: Monitor and manage ingredient inventory, sourcing fresh, high-quality produce from local Fort Lauderdale distributors (e.g., Premier Produce, Cheney Brothers) when possible.
• Food Safety & Cleanliness: Maintain a clean and organized workstation, adhering to Florida food safety regulations and Cortina’s hygiene standards.
• Team Collaboration: Work closely with kitchen and front-of-house staff to ensure seamless operations during busy service periods.
• Customer Engagement: Occasionally interact with customers to explain menu items, highlight specials, or accommodate dietary preferences (e.g., gluten-free or vegan pizzas).

Qualifications:

• Experience: Minimum of 2 years as a pizza chef or in a similar role, preferably in a high-volume restaurant or pizzeria.
• Skills: Expertise in various pizza styles (e.g., Neapolitan, New York-style, or artisanal) and proficiency in dough fermentation and pizza oven operation.
• Creativity: Ability to create unique pizza recipes that align with Fort Lauderdale’s dynamic food trends.
• Physical Stamina: Comfortable working in a fast-paced kitchen, standing for long periods, and handling high heat from pizza ovens.
• Certifications: Florida Food Handler Certification preferred (or willingness to obtain within 30 days of hire).
• Team Player: Strong communication skills and ability to thrive in a collaborative, high-energy environment.
• Local Knowledge (Bonus): Familiarity with sourcing fresh ingredients from Fort Lauderdale-area distributors like Premier Produce or Cheney Brothers.
