FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
General Definition of Work
Performs intermediate skilled trades work maintaining and replacing concrete and asphalt pavement, and related work as apparent or assigned. Work is performed under the moderate supervision of the Public Works Crew Supervisor.

Essential Functions
Repair, replace, or install concrete and asphalt in city streets and infrastructure.
Removes leaves from residential homes.
Repair, replace, or install city street signs.
Performs crack sealing on city infrastructure.
Removes snow on city roads and city properties.
Perform building maintenance on city properties.
Perform street sweeping on city streets.
Installs street pavement marking on city streets.
Operates and drives heavy machinery and equipment to perform tasks listed above.
Responds to emergency calls outside of normal working hours for snow removal and other issues as needed.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
General knowledge of the operation, maintenance, capabilities and limitations of equipment used in area of assignment;
general knowledge of the occupational hazards and proper safety precautions involved in the operation of equipment;
thorough knowledge of traffic laws and regulations governing equipment operation; skill in the operation of equipment;
ability to understand and follow specific oral instructions; ability to detect signs of mechanical failure of equipment;
ability to make minor repairs and adjustments to equipment; ability to establish and maintain effective working
relationships with associates and the general public.
Education and Experience
High school diploma or GED required and minimal experience in concrete and asphalt construction and maintenance, or
equivalent combination of education and experience.
Physical Requirements
This work requires the regular exertion of up to 10 pounds of force, frequent exertion of up to 50 pounds of force and occasional exertion of over 100 pounds of force; work regularly requires standing, walking, speaking or hearing, reaching with hands and arms, pushing or pulling and lifting, frequently requires using hands to finger, handle or feel, stooping, kneeling, crouching or crawling and repetitive motions and occasionally requires sitting and climbing or balancing; work has standard vision requirements; vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word and conveying detailed or important instructions to others accurately, loudly or quickly; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels and to receive detailed information through oral communications and/or to make fine distinctions in sound; work requires visual inspection involving small defects and/or small parts, using of measuring devices, assembly or fabrication of parts within arm's length, operating machines, operating motor vehicles or equipment and observing general surroundings and activities; work regularly requires exposure to outdoor weather conditions, frequently requires working near moving mechanical parts and exposure to fumes or airborne particles and occasionally requires wet, humid conditions (non-weather), working in high, precarious places, exposure to toxic or caustic chemicals, and exposure to vibration; work is generally in a loud noise location (e.g. grounds maintenance, heavy traffic).
Special Requirements
Valid commercial driver's license with Class A endorsement, or the ability to obtain within six months of hire.
