Purchasing Manager | Zeeland, MI

Salary Range: $82,000 - $122,000 depending on experience

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement strategic purchasing initiatives to optimize costs and ensure supply chain efficiency.
• Manage supplier relationships, including sourcing, contract negotiation, and performance evaluation.
• Oversee the procurement of raw materials, components, and MRO items critical for manufacturing operations.
• Collaborate with production, engineering, and quality teams to forecast material needs and maintain optimal inventory levels.
• Identify and mitigate supply chain risks, ensuring continuity of supply and adherence to quality standards.
• Lead, mentor, and develop the purchasing team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
• Analyze market trends and new technologies to identify potential cost savings and process improvements.

Recommended Qualifications

• Extensive experience (5+ years) in purchasing and supply chain management within a manufacturing environment.
• Demonstrated expertise in strategic sourcing, contract negotiation, and supplier relationship management.
• Proficiency with ERP/MRP systems for procurement, inventory, and material planning.
• Strong analytical skills for cost analysis, market trends, and supplier performance evaluation.
• Proven leadership and team management abilities.
• Understanding of manufacturing processes, materials, and quality standards relevant to the industry.

Bonus Qualifications

• Lean/Six Sigma certification (e.g., Green Belt, Black Belt).
• Experience with international sourcing, logistics, and customs compliance.
• Professional certification (e.g., CSCP, CPIM) in supply chain management.
• Proficiency with advanced data analysis tools (e.g., Power BI, SQL) for spend analysis and forecasting.
• Familiarity with contract law and negotiation of complex supplier agreements.
