The University of Miami/UHealth Department OBGYN has an exciting opportunity for a full-time Registered Nurse 2 to work in Miami, FL. The Registered Nurse 2 delivers patient-family centered care in a culturally competent manner utilizing evidence-based standards of quality, safety, and service while ensuring population-specific patient care. The Registered Nurse 2 oversees nurses and allied health staff in their daily practice. Core job functions include assessing assigned patients and evaluating plans including documentation of nursing care, reporting symptoms and changes in patients’ condition and vital signs, modifying patient treatment plans as indicated by patients’ responses, conditions, and physician orders. Reviews, evaluates, and reports diagnostic tests to assess patient’s condition. Consults with physicians and other healthcare professionals related to assigned patients to assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care plans. Prepares patients for, and assists with examinations, procedures, and treatments, considering patient age and culture during treatments and providing needed information regarding treatment plans. Provides psychological support nurturing a compassionate environment. Performs appropriate patient tests and safely administers medications within scope of practice, maintaining accurate records related to medications and treatments as per regulatory bodies, policies, procedures, and physician orders. Communicates plan of care timely to patient, family, and team members ensuring compliance with regulatory guidelines (e.g., HIPAA). Uses best practices for transition of patient care. Uses available resources to assist in discharge planning. Plans, prioritizes, and adjusts assignments to accomplish goals and render superior patient care; seeks assistance when needed. Adapts to changing work demands and environment. Safely operates medical equipment. Serves as a preceptor and assists new staff in provision of care to help acclimate to healthcare environment and direct patient care role, providing concise and constructive feedback when needed. Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets. Department specific functions include working with the Reproductive Endocrinology and Fertility Center, educating patients in all areas of Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility, assisting physicians in outpatient clinical practice with tasks such as veni-puncture, finger-sticks, injections, in-vitro fertilizations, inseminations, biopsies, ultrasounds, oocyte retrieval, and embryo transfer. Performs spectrum of services including scheduling appointments and referrals, adhering to Gyn nursing model directives, triaging patient calls for counseling, prescription refills, physician orders, cycle initiation, and lab results review. Manages inventory and orders medical and laboratory supplies. Assists physicians with surgical procedures at the Center. Records patients’ medical history, vital statistics, weight, temperature, and height. Administers IV therapy and medication, draws blood, teaches patients, and performs other clinical procedures as assigned. Maintains logs for crash cart, AED, and narcotic medications. Follows infectious control policies and procedures. Maintains and updates all Joint Commission requirements. Reviews and reports laboratory test results. Will need to work weekend sessions as per schedule. This list of duties and responsibilities is not all-inclusive and may be expanded as necessary. Core qualifications include Bachelor of Science in Nursing, Registered Nurse License, Basic Life Support Certification (BLS), minimum 2 years nursing experience, knowledge of medical terminology, nursing care methods and procedures, health and safety guidelines, excellent patient experience skills, problem-solving ability, effective interpersonal relationships, and communication skills.
