Job Description

Robert Half is seeking a SQL Database Administrator (Direct Hire Only – No C2C). Applicants must be authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship. This hybrid role (50 miles from the Iowa City area) requires onsite presence one day per week , so candidates must reside within a commutable distance.

Key Responsibilities:

SQL Infrastructure & Optimization:

• Administer, monitor, and optimize SQL Server databases, including replication, security, and maintenance plans.
• Troubleshoot performance issues using techniques such as indexing, query refactoring, and normalization.
• Apply advanced SQL concepts including JOINs , CTEs , window functions , and transactions to support complex data operations.

Reporting & Data Analysis:

• Develop and maintain high-level reporting solutions using SSRS , Crystal Reports , and Excel.
• Write and optimize SQL queries to extract, analyze, and visualize data for business intelligence.
• Collaborate with multiple departments to gather reporting requirements and deliver actionable insights to business leaders.

Data Integration & ETL:

• Aggregate and centralize data from various legacy systems into a unified data mart.
• Design and implement ETL processes without a dedicated tool, ensuring data consistency and reliability.

Qualifications:

Required Skills:

• Proficiency in SQL Server management, including replication, performance tuning, and security.
• Experience with SSRS, Crystal Reports, Snowflake and Excel-based reporting.
• Strong understanding of data integration, ETL processes, and database normalization.
• Ability to build and maintain a data mart without a dedicated data lake infrastructure.

Preferred Skills:

• Familiarity with Power Platform (Power BI, Power Automate, Power Apps).

Soft Skills:

• Strong communication skills with the ability to synthesize technical details for non-technical stakeholders.
• Problem-solving mindset with adaptability to legacy systems and future scalability.
