UPMC Somerset is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Staff Nurse to join our Same Day Services team. As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will be an integral part of our care delivery team, setting the standard for high-quality, patient-centered care. Responsibilities :

• Deliver safe, accountable, and autonomous nursing care using the nursing process within a Relationship-Based Care framework.
\n
• Manage patient care activities for a group of patients and their families, applying independent judgment and effective communication.
\n
• Participate in PACU call hours as part of the role’s responsibilities.
\n
• Establish collaborative relationships with physicians, healthcare providers, patients, and families to achieve optimal outcomes.
\n
• Engage in continuous learning through clinical development programs, feedback, and professional literature.
\n
• Provide patient and family education to support the episode of care.
\n
• Demonstrate critical thinking and identify clinical, social, and ethical issues in patient care.
\n
• Contribute to quality improvement initiatives and evidence-based practice.
\n
• Support a safe and inclusive workplace, recognizing cultural diversity and professional integrity.
\n
• Participate in shared governance and unit-level initiatives to improve clinical care and workplace health.

• 1 year general medical/surgical nursing experience
\n
• BSN preferred.
\n

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:

\n
• Registered Nurse (RN)
\n
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
\n
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
\n
• Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)\n
  \n
  • CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire.
  \n
  \n
\n
• NIH Certification will be required within 6 months of hire for applicable units
\n
• Act 31 Child Abuse Reporting with renewal
\n
• Act 33 with renewal
\n
• Act 34 with renewal
\n
• Act 73 FBI Clearance with renewal
\n

*Current licensure either in the state where the facility is located or, if the facility is in a state covered by the multistate Nursing Licensure Compact (NLC) agreement, a multistate license issued by a participating NLC state. Hires and current employees working on an out-of-state NLC license who later change their residency to the state where the facility is also located will have 60 days upon changing their residency to apply for licensure within that state.
