About The Role As a Tax Analyst at Zekelman Industries, you will play a key role in supporting the tax department by assisting with day-to-day tax and administrative matters. This position requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and a basic understanding of tax principles. You will have the opportunity to contribute directly to managing federal and state income tax filings, ensuring compliance, and assisting with tax-related research and filings. You will collaborate with the Director of Tax, Tax Manager, and external consultants, ensuring that all tax documentation and filings are accurate and timely. This is a hybrid role located in downtown Chicago, IL , with eligibility for remote work on selected days after meeting policy requirements. This role is perfect for someone who is detail-oriented, enjoys working independently, and thrives in a fast-paced environment. What You’ll Do Provides general support to the tax department in managing day-to-day tax and administrative matters related to Zekelman Industries. Assists in performing income tax calculations for federal and state filings and extensions. Responsible for logging and making quarterly and annual tax payments. Prepares data files to support various tax filings. Conducts basic research on a broad range of tax matters, including legislative updates and developments. Assists with registrations with the Secretary of State and Department of Revenue for new legal entities and jurisdictional activities. Collates data files for external consultants as necessary. Organizes and maintains electronic documentation for the tax and legal departments. Assists with inquiries and notices from various governmental agencies and supports legal disputes and tax controversies. Works on other tax-related projects and analysis as assigned. Who You Are 1-3 years of work experience in a tax or related field. Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business, or a related field. Basic understanding of U.S. GAAP and tax principles preferred. Strong research skills. Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word. Detail-oriented, conscientious, and systematic with a high level of accuracy. Able to work under tight deadlines and independently. Strong organizational, oral, and written communication skills. Analytical skills and ability to work effectively with outside consultants. Legally eligible for employment in the United States without sponsorship.
