Closing: General Purpose
Under general supervision, provides audio-visual systems (AV) support to users; sets up, configures, troubleshoots, maintains and repairs AV-related systems and equipment for an assigned campus; participates in setting up and taking down AV systems, equipment and cabling for special events; assists with installation, maintenance and repair of the more complex digital and audio-visual systems; and performs related duties as assigned.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities

- Installs, sets up, configures and ensures the connectivity of AV systems and related equipment including laptops, LCD projectors and other display equipment, video cameras, visual presenters, microphones and various control systems in classrooms, conference rooms and other meeting spaces; ensures the proper placement of cameras/speaker arrays for proper viewing and sound coverage; connects and tests various systems and makes adjustments for optimal use.
- Responds to user support requests received through the Help Desk; assists users with the proper operation and use of SmartSystems, laptops and other AV equipment; troubleshoots equipment problems and system connectivity and operational problems with laptops and AV equipment; may install computer drivers and imaging software; repairs or replaces cabling; replaces broken AV equipment and parts and facilitates larger repairs.
- Assists faculty and other staff in setting up individual videoconferencing software, including Zoom and Teams, for meetings and calls.
- Participates in AV set up and take down for special events; sets up, connects and tests operations of AV systems, display equipment, cabling, public address (PA) systems including amplifiers, wired and wireless microphones, speakers, equalizers and cabling and other equipment; makes camera placements to ensure required coverage for interpreters; may monitor equipment functionality during events.
- Documents equipment usage and maintains an inventory database of AV equipment; handles surplus equipment functions following established procedures.
- Assists the Audio-Visual Systems Coordinator with installation, testing and configuration of new, complex digital and AV equipment.
- May assist instructors and staff with the creation and/or editing of video content; may duplicate and convert various types of media into video or digital formats.
- Demonstrates sensitivity to and understanding of historically minoritized groups and participates in professional development activities to increase cultural competency to enhance equity-minded practices within the District.
OTHER DUTIES
- Secures equipment and office during evenings and weekends.
- Keeps abreast of AV and digital media trends.
- Performs related duties as assigned.
Employment Standards / Minimum Qualifications
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES Knowledge of: - Audio-visual technologies and equipment applicable for both instructional and business purposes, including projection and display equipment, cameras, sound systems and control systems and methods and techniques for their operation and use.
- Methods and techniques for troubleshooting, maintaining and repairing AV systems and equipment including the use of software tools.
- Operational characteristics of computer systems and basic troubleshooting methods and techniques.
- Networking concepts and connectivity issues particularly applicable to smart classrooms and meeting spaces.
- Uses and operations of videoconferencing systems including Zoom and MicroSoft Teams.
- Video editing and duplication software and associated hardware and equipment.
- Basic principles of electrical circuitry and currents.
- Practices and procedures of recordkeeping.
- Modern office procedures, methods and equipment.
- Occupational hazards and standard safety practices pertaining to area of work.
Skills and Abilities to:

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Graduation from high school or GED equivalent and at least two years of experience in the operation, repair and maintenance of AV systems and related equipment; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
Coursework in audio-visual technology, audio and visual production, desktop computing or instructional media technology is preferred.
LICENSES, CERTIFICATES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS A valid California driver's license and the ability to maintain insurability under the District's vehicle insurance program.
