Utilization Review RN Jobs – Case Management Nurse (On-Site, Pennington, NJ)

Utilization Review RN Job Details

• Location: On-site in Pennington, NJ (Central New Jersey)
• Estimated Weekly Pay: $1,990 – $2,130
• Hourly Pay Rate: $88.35
• Assignment Duration: 13 weeks (with potential for extension)
• Hours per Week: 36
• Schedule: 12-hour shifts (7:30am–8:00pm or 8:00am–8:30pm)
• Weekend Requirement: Every 3rd weekend
• Holiday Requirement: 1 holiday per season
• Dress Code: Business attire required; scrubs permitted only with a white scrub jacket

Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Associate's Degree in Nursing required; BSN preferred
• Graduate of an accredited nursing program
• Active New Jersey RN license (Registered Nurse)
• Minimum 5 years of clinical nursing experience
• 2-3 years of experience in utilization review, denial management, or quality management (must be able to step in with minimal training)
• Strong knowledge of Utilization Review (UR) guidelines; MCG preferred
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Electronic Medical Records (EMR), and UR software
• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills for collaboration with physicians, payers, and care teams
• Preferred certifications: CPHQ, CCM, ACM, or CPUR

Utilization Review Nurse Responsibilities

• Conduct concurrent review of patient charts with a focus on level-of-care determinations from the Emergency Department (ED gatekeeping)
• Communicate with payers regarding admissions, continued stays, and denials
• Document utilization review activities, barriers, and care progression
• Identify strategies to reduce avoidable days and unnecessary resource utilization
• Collaborate with physicians, case managers, and other healthcare professionals to ensure appropriate utilization of resources
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of CMS regulations and payer guidelines
• Participate in daily huddles, care team meetings, and performance improvement initiatives
