Meals on Wheels People is an organization founded in and by the community! Over the past 50 years, our non-profit has helped thousands of older adults in the Portland Metro area keep their independence through weekly meal delivery and social connections. Our culture reflects our five values: integrity, commitment, respect, inclusion, creativity, and TEAMWORK. With over 20 meal delivery centers throughout Multnomah, Washington, and Clark counties, our staff and thousands of volunteers ensure that no adult over 60 goes hungry or experiences social isolation.

Meals on Wheels People is looking for an UNPAID INTERN to help with the primary responsibilities:

Human Resources

• Assist with recruitment efforts, including posting internship and staff opportunities, screening applications, and scheduling interviews.
• Support onboarding and orientation for new staff, interns, and volunteers.
• Help maintain accurate personnel and volunteer records.
• Assist with compliance processes, such as background checks and document tracking.
• Contribute to employee and volunteer engagement initiatives, recognition programs, and HR communications.
• Conduct research on HR best practices to help strengthen organizational policies and procedures.
• Provide general administrative support to the HR team as needed.

Data Collection and Management:

• Assist with data entry and reporting related to outreach activities. 
• Maintain accurate records of community interactions and engagement efforts. 

Communication and Outreach:

• Develop and maintain relationships with community partners and stakeholders. 
• Respond to inquiries and provide information about programs and services. 
• Support social media efforts by creating content and managing online presence. 
• Assist with writing and editing materials for community outreach. 

Volunteer Support:

• Assist with recruiting, training, and managing outreach volunteers. 
• Support volunteer activities and events.
