April H.

Her ability to brighten a room earned her the nickname ‘Sunshine’, which becomes quickly apparent when meeting April, as she is always bright and positive, and loves to uplift others.

Putting off an initial passion to become a dietician, April first gained her Associates Arts degree, while also creating her own family and caring for a couple of special needs children. She realized quickly how needs and abilities go hand in hand.

As pre-school and kindergarten teacher, April constantly studied to enhance her work with children. “It is awe inspiring teaching a child, then watching them take that knowledge and become confident in applying it”, she says.

During her many years in child care and education, April also nursed an elderly family member, broadening her insight and wisdom about the human condition.

Then, at the birth of her second child, April became aware of some significant damage her body had suffered during an old snowboarding accident, which prompted a series of treatments including chiropractic adjustments, physical therapy, as well as massage therapy.

The healing process marked a turning point in April’s career, as she recognized bodywork as a perfect answer to her always curiously strong hands. After graduating from Body Wisdom’s 900-Hour Massage Certification Program, April has combined her teaching skills, knowledge, experience, and hands-on abilities to serve her clients in her private practice and students within her courses.

She states that she has “always loved learning new things; especially learning about the many things our bodies are capable of doing”.

Privately, April enjoys her plants, reading, practicing yoga, traveling, and spending quality time with family and friends. “If I find myself on a beach with a good book…that might just be my paradise.”
